Ethics prompts reward a fair process: principles, missing facts, role boundaries, escalation, and compassionate communication.
Ethics stations are not tests of whether you can find the perfect answer instantly. They test whether you can reason fairly under pressure. Begin by naming the competing duties: patient autonomy, patient welfare, confidentiality, justice, professional integrity, and safety. Then explain what facts you need before acting.
Use process language. Say how you would involve supervisors, interpreters, institutional policy, or the care team when the issue exceeds your role. This shows maturity and prevents the common mistake of acting like a student has final authority.
End with communication. Even a technically correct ethical decision can fail if the patient or family feels ignored. Explain how you would share the decision respectfully and invite questions.
